New Mexico Dealers/Recyclers License Information

The New Mexico Dealers License is a lengthy process.  We at NMIADA are here to assist you in discovering the process.  The information below is simply a guide and not be considered information from NM MVD.  (We have made every attempt to include all the information, but can not be held responsible for any omissions or errors) A complete packet can be obtained by calling NM Dealer Services at 505-383-2316, 505 Marquette NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107.

The following information is a guideline provided by NMIADA only.

1.  Decide on the name of your dealership.  NMIADA can, as a service to you, check the latest dealer list and see if your name is currently being used by another dealer.  Complete and file corporation papers with NM PRC. ( only necessary if you will be a LLC or corporation)

2.  Choose a location for dealership, acquire lease or purchase of property.

3.  Have Zoning approval done.  In Albuquerque, call 311.  Other cities should contact local zoning office.

4.  Have Fire Marshall inspection.  Contact your local Fire Marshall.

5.  Acquire a $50,000 Dealers License Bond from an insurance agent.  A list of NMIADA Associate members who provide insurance can be provided by contacting NMIADA.  This bond is not an insurance policy.  It is a guarantee for NM MVD to procure title if your dealership fails to provide title to a consumer.

6.  Have a sign installed.  Letters must be 6" tall and visible from the street.

7.  Acquire a NM State CRS #.

 8.  Acquire a city business license. In Albquerque go to www.cabq.govtreasuryapply.html

9.  Complete the following forms:

     Dealers License Check list (not available at this time)

     Application for Dealers License (MVD-10035)

     Applicant Information (MVD-10036) 

     Applicant Affidavit (MVD-10037)  Note:  This form has a typo - The last question should be answered as a yes or no just like the previous questions.  Your application will be rejected if this questions is not answered.  You can just write it in.

     Place of Businss Affidavit (MVD-10038

     Zoning Inspection Certificate (MVD-10178)

10. Complete the Pre License Education Class provided by NMIADA.
